I began my 2nd round of culling this week. The ‘08 crop is looking very good so far, excellent quality, good numbers, and good growth. The first round of culling is incredibly physical hard work,... tedious, and time consuming. The 2nd round is much more enjoyable for true Koi appreciation. The work load is a little less intense, and I have an opportunity to really enjoy the quality. The Kohaku fry again this year blow my mind,... a group I’m very excited about! My production this season is Kohaku, Showa, Hariwake, New Age Showa, a Magoi/Showa 2nd generation cross, Sanke, Utsuri, Bekko, Magoi, Ki Utsuri.
Here are a few pics from this week’s sorting - all in the 7” or 18 cm range at only 2 and a half months old. I’ll have more photos and video up as the Summer rolls on.
