The details are falling into place for my Fall Harvest Sale this coming weekend.
Today was incredibly humid,... and the early morning was quiet,... except for the calling crows and bluejays,... and then the sounds of my pumps and generator firing up,... the 3rd day of harvesting here at Lotus Land Koi Farm,... very physically demanding work early in the day,... pulling seines, slopping around in heavy water filled mud coated boots, and lifting bags and tubs of Koi,... but the afternoons are often a little more relaxed, and more time is spent actually looking at the Koi. I’d have to say the ‘looking’ today was incredibly pleasing! I harvested a pond of tosai Ki Utsuri, and a pond containing an experimental spawn of 2nd generation Magoi X Showa cross. I was moving fast with those groups and didn’t get any photos of the Ki Utsuri tosai. I did get a few photos of some of the 2 year old Kohakus I pulled up later this afternoon though, and further below are a few photos of the Goshiki tosai harvest yesterday.
Tosai Goshiki, harvested yesterday, 9/22/09. Tomorrow I’ll be harvesting Kujaku, and more 2 year olds.
