The Charlotte Koi Show is a particularly special show for me. A Koi nut named Jim Beasley and I, and the Piedmont Koi & Water Garden Society began that show several years ago, with the generous help of the Atlanta Koi Club who provided us with show tanks for the first 2 years, and with the help of many energetic volunteers from around the US. The intent was to get a Koi Show on the show circuit in the void somewhere between Washington, DC and Atlanta. We also chose the date of the 1st week in November for a couple of reasons - 1st because the cool weather and cool water of Fall is great for the Koi,... the oxygen demands are much less, good for both transporting Koi, and for housing Koi in show tanks over a weekend,... and there are no spawning issues. The stars of the show, the Koi, are also strong and healthy, just coming off a long warm summer of feeding and prospering,... and also their colors are at their most vibrant . The 2nd reason for the date was that the Show’s wet vendors would have a new (just harvested) selection of Koi for the Show’s visitors to enjoy.
The Charlotte Koi Show has been a favorite of many hobbyists for several years now, and after taking last year off, and after changing to a new venue, it was back this year in 1st class form. The Fall Charlotte, NC weather was excellent, and the new venue was perfect for a Koi Show.
Here are some snapshots from the weekend.

It was nice to see the show crew were ‘anti-bacterially and anti-virally alert'! So many details were covered and covered well by the seasoned Charlotte Koi Show crew.
As a breeder it’s always exciting for me to see Koi that I’ve sold in the past appear at Koi shows,... such as these two Showas. It gives me an opportunity to see how Koi from my farm are developing in others' water and pond systems, and I also get to compete vicariously through my clients.
Here are photos of a couple of Lotus Land Koi Farm Koi that took home major awards at the Charlotte Koi Show this year. Other awards included BEST IN VARIETY - Kawarimono - an Ochiba Shigure, and BEST IN SIZE 4 - a Showa.
