A few snapshots from the past 2 weeks as the farm gets cranked up with Spring!

3 Sanke males - the top one is 24 months old,... the middle Sanke is 15 years old, and the bottom one is 11 years old.  Longevity of beauty and color is real value in Koi.

 

 

Three female Kohakus born here in 2007 being moved out to an earthen pond for the summer.

Male Kohaku born here in 2008.  Look closely deep into the scales,... far from finished!

 

 

Female Kohaku born here in 2008.  A little different look than the male.  More translucent at this stage of development,... a little like looking closely at the glazing of a candy apple.

Baby birds piled up in a nest on top of a light socket in the barn here.  Right above where I store the Koi food,... hummmmmnnn.

 

 

The food chain is long,... one water bug carring another insect. across the surface of the water in a spawning tank.

 

 

24 month old Kohaku,... sex still undetermined,... so it will be checked again in 2 weeks, before being moved into a grow-out pond.
