Today I began the week-long harvesting of Koi for my Fall Harvest Sale. This work actually began late last night, when the gas powered pumps were fired up around 9:30 pm, and the first pond was pumped down over night. In this first pond were 75 day old Kohakus, measuring an average 5 inches. Here are a couple of photos of the young Kohakus from this pond that will be available at my Fall Harvest Sale. Visitors will have an opportunity to look through all of these 200 to 300 or so Kohakus to find the best of the group, or the ones I might have missed. You can scroll down to the 16 month old Kohakus lower in this thread to see how the bodies of my Kohakus develop over a years time.
Also,... there is a tiny Hi Utsuri in the basket here. See if you can find it.
The 2nd pond harvested today contained around 60 Koi that are now 16 months old,... or Nisai,... all born here in May & June of 2008. Here are a few photos.
