Last week I completed the 2nd cull on one of my Showa sets, and 1st cull on Goshiki. The 2010 season here continues to look excellent!
Today I did my 1st culling on Sanke. Sankes are incredibly difficult,... difficult to produce,... and difficult to see in the culling. There’s a certain ‘look’ that has to be there at 45 days,... and the transformation in the first 120 days is incredible. Today I was a very happy breeder. I love what I saw. This years’ Sanke parent set is all new,... and the genetic combination is a hit! The characteristics of body shape, skin, and sumi are very much classic Sadazo,... but with an American Lotus Land Koi Farm influence also, as the mother and one of the males were born here in North Carolina.
I haven’t seen a lot of Bekkos at shows lately,... or for sale,... so I decided to keep a group of my very highest quality Bekkos this season. If you’re looking for a high quality Bekko I’ll have some available at my Fall Harvest Sale in September,... pearly white skin, and large block sumi.
I’ll have some individual pictures of Sankes and Bekkos to share at the next culling.
