2/18/11 - 26” Kujaku

Yesterday I was reminded of ‘time’ and the journey of Koi,... the long journey of koi, as I packed up a Kujaku that was born, or hatched here nearly 5 years ago in 2006.  In 5 years time I see a Koi hatch from an egg,... swim freely at the size of a mosquito larvae,... see the body grow in length and girth, and see the color plates thicken and develop.  Along this journey I get accustomed to seeing certain fish at harvest time, and nearly daily throughout the Fall and Winter months.   It’s no wonder we are all so fascinated with our Koi, and the long journey of anticipation,... of art,... of beauty,... and biology, science, chemistry, and mechanics they take us on through the years,... some as long as 25 or 30 years.
